Many of the existing power plants are operating with high level of specific water consumption. Water is increasingly becoming a premium commodity in terms of cost and availability. There is both need and scope of reducing water consumption especially in water scarce areas.

Condenser performance is highly crucial for efficient operation of the power plant as major share of heat rejection takes place here. The study proposes to carry out unit specific studies at two power stations to identify methodology for on line monitoring of condenser parameters to evaluate its thermal and physical performance in an economical way.
